HARD CHROMIUM PLATING
Hard chromium deposits are widely used for the provision of hard, abrasion resistant wearing surfaces and for building up of undersized or worn parts. The value of chromium for such purposes lies in its hardness, resistance to abrasion, passivity of surface, and its anti-seize properties when applied to rotating or reciprocating parts.

APPLICATIONS
* GAUGES - with a hardness of between 800 and 900 H.V.chromium has proven ideal for facing gauges.
* CUTTING TOOLS - the life of drills, reamers, milling cutters, taps and files are dramatically increased with thin deposits of chromium. The chromium also reduces friction and prevents the tools from biting.
* DIES - hard chromium deposition has proved to be especially valuable for facing many types of metal forming and drawing dies, as it considerably extends the die life as well as minimising scoring, and fouling of the tool by adhesion of the metal.
* MACHINE PARTS - piston rings, cylinder liners, crankshafts, bearings, hydraulic and oleo rams, gudgeon pins, gears and other articles are hard chromium plated as standard procedure to improve their wear qualities and to resist corrosion.
* SALVAGE OF WORN OR FAULTILY MACHINED PARTS - a most important application of hard chromium is that of building up worn parts and the salvaging of expensive components that would otherwise be rejected for defects in machining.
