Understanding the EPA IO4 Licencing in Victoria

In May 2023 the AISF established a working group of dedicated electroplaters and anodisers to develop a strategy to assist our members in applying and obtaining the IO4 license for our Electroplaters and Anodisers based in Victoria.

The AISF has a representative on the EPA’s Small Business and Manufacturing consultation Group that meets quarter and we are working with them in regards to best practices for achieving and keeping operating licences in Victoria.

The AISF is doing all we can to reduce the burdon on members and for them to be able to obtain the licence with a minimum amount of effort.

There will be considerable time and financial requirements to obtain a IO4 licence.

We want our members to be licenced and to make the process as straight forward as possible, but this will most likely require the employment of consultants, the cost of which is prohibitive for small operators.

We welcome all our members to join the working group and assist in making the process as easy as possible for our members.

The AISF held a members forum online on 28 February, 2024 to update our members.

The AISF has created a documentation booklet for our members that has been well received as they work through the EPA pathway process.

The final exemption date for requiring a licence for IO4 will expire in 2026.
