The Australasian Institute of Surface Finishing offers Powder Coating training modules.

The 10 Principles of Professional Powder Coating: 2 Day (in-house training module) is a comprehensive training session and covers all the fundamentals to learn the basics or brush up on your skills and understanding of powder coating practices and techniques.

The topics covered in the 2 Day training module, History and development of powder coating, Introduction to the Ten Principles of Professional Powder Coating, Chemical Safety, Science for powder coaters, Substrates, Environments (understanding corrosion zones), jigging/hanging, Pretreatment, Powder booths and powder recovery, Powder coating application equipment, curing, checking, testing, protecting, powder curing and Practical coating tasks to demonstrate some of the pitfalls of powder coating.

The course participants gain comprehensive understanding of the importance of understanding your substrate and pre-treatment requirements, the ability to produce quality products and to banish the bad habits picked up by ‘word of mouth’ training.

Please note in the absence of any RTO’s offering accredited training in Australia, this is the most comprehensive solution to train your staff. While there is a practical component to this course, the course is not ‘Learn to Powder Coat’.

The 10 Principles of Professional Powder Coating: Level 1 (1 Day short course) is a 1 Day beginners training session to learn the basics of powder coating practices and techniques and normally includes an equipment presentation by an industry expert and a plant tour.

The topics covered, The BIG picture, Design and Fabrication, Capability of the Coater, Environments, Substrates, Pre-treatment, Powder coating equipment, Powder Curing, Checking, Testing, Protecting and Maintenance.

The course participants gain an overall view of powder coating and an understanding of the basic requirements for a successful powder coating system.

Who should attend – your customers’ customers, specifiers, builders, designers/architects, sales representatives, and office staff.

The AISF is also working towards introducing a spectrum of Powder Coating modules online and in-house for Working Safely in the Powder Coating shop, Learn to Powder Coat and Powder Coating Advanced.
