The Australian Institute of Surface Finishing (AISF) is currently preparing to launch QUALI‑SURE™, a new Accreditation & Audit Program for Powder Coating and Anodising finishes used in Australia.
QUALI-SURE™ will be recognisable as Australia’s eminent powder coating and anodising accreditation program that the AISF will administer. It will be a symbol to architects, specifiers, engineers, fabricators, builders, asset owners, end users and other stakeholders of an applicator’s compliance with relevant process controls for different surface finishing systems that will be supported by verification audits.
By seeking to become an AISF QUALI-SURE™ accredited applicator, a business signifies its commitment to industry best practice that meets the technical criteria for the successful preparation and application of powder coatings or anodising. Participation in the program will require an audit of the coaters processes to verify capability levels for each coating plant to achieve the required specifications and performance criteria. business enhancements.

AISF is finalising the control documents and audit frameworks that will underpin the QUALI‑SURE™ program set to commence in 2026. This program is expected to deliver positive outcomes for all stakeholders that apply or use powder coated and anodised surface finishes on their architectural metals.

What is QUALI‑SURE™?
The AISF, as the peak industry body, has developed QUALI‑SURE™ as exclusive accreditation and audit program designed specifically to suit Australian conditions. This detailed program supports powder coating and anodising applicators put in place practical technical processes to help them achieve the performance levels for architectural aluminium substrates required under Australian Standards AS 3715:2025 and AS 1231:2000, together with the specifications of the powder coating and chemical manufacturers/ suppliers.
Australia has some of the most diverse and extreme environmental conditions on the planet that range from mild to coastal to extreme, (refer classifications in AS 4312), where the performance of powder coating and anodising surface finishes are exposed to an array of weathering and pollution impacts.
For powder coating, the updated AS 3715:2025 provides a new matrix of durability ratings allowing the selection of suitable finishes for architectural aluminium substrates that applied correctly by a competent QUALI‑SURE™ accredited applicator will perform in the installed area and meet the recommendations of the relevant Australian Standard.
