Working Safely with Hazardous Chemicals
The Australasian Institute of Surface Finishing delivers the Working Safely with Hazardous Chemicals training module, designed to promote safe work practices and support the health, safety and environmental responsibility of those working with hazardous substances. Developed in collaboration with Phillip Turner (OHS), this course provides practical, industry-focused guidance on identifying, managing and controlling chemical risks in the workplace.
This training is essential for anyone working with or around hazardous chemicals, particularly within industrial and metal finishing environments. It focuses on how chemical exposure can occur through everyday activities such as handling, storage, decanting, and processing, including risks associated with fumes, vapours, dusts, and spills. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to minimise these risks through proper planning, safe handling techniques, and adherence to WHS regulations.
The course emphasises the importance of preparedness, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency response procedures, and effective workplace controls. It also reinforces the shared responsibility of employers and workers in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace, while encouraging continuous improvement in safety practices and awareness.
Delivered online via Microsoft Teams by industry expert Paul Inskip, this 2-hour webinar module provides practical knowledge that can be immediately applied in the workplace to reduce incidents, improve safety outcomes, and ensure compliance with current regulations.
An exam paper must be completed and returned upon completion of the module.
Once your exam paper has been received and marked, a certificate will be issued. Participants will also receive course notes for the module.
